Virgil van Dijk Injury Update after Liverpool defender’s surgery after ACL damage
The Dutch captain went under the knife in the capital and is now concentrating on his recovery, according to Liverpool.
Having undergone a scan immediately after his withdrawal, Van Dijk was sent to a specialist the next day when it was confirmed that surgery would be necessary.
Sources from Anfield hope that Van Dijk’s mentality, combined with his near-perfect injury record before the knee rebound, will count in his favor when he begins his lengthy rehabilitation process.
The club has not given a time frame for the absence of the 75 million pound man.
But Liverpool must face the prospect of having to do without the runner-up Ballon d’Or for much of the Premier League campaign in 2019.
With Joe Gomez, Liverpool currently has only one central defender in the senior national team, Joel Matip and Fabinho.
However, they consider it inappropriate to offer a speculative period of time as to how long Van Dijk will not be available for Jürgen Klopp during this term of office.
The Reds will be back in action when they host West Ham on Saturday night.
The battle at Anfield begins tomorrow evening at 17.30.
