Tiger Roll’s hopes for a third consecutive victory in Aintree were dashed this year when the Randox Health Grand National became virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the 5:1 favorite in the virtual race came fourth.
Two-time Grand National winner Tiger Roll plans to return to the Aintree racetrack in 2021, said coach Gordon Elliot.
Coach Gordon Elliot says returning to Aintree is “the plan” for Tiger Roll.
Now coach Gordon Elliot has confirmed that returning to Aintree is “the plan” for the Tiger Roll.
In a video provided by the Jockey Club on YouTube, Gordon Elliot said that he “couldn’t be happier” with Tiger Roll and that the horse “moves great” and “looks brilliant”.
Then he confirmed the news we have all been waiting for – Tiger Roll will be back at the Aintree racecourse next year.
He added that hopefully Tiger Roll “will get the chance to do three in a row this year”.
said Gordon: “Yes, 100%, obviously the Aintree Randox Health Grand National is the plan with Tiger Roll”.
Dickon White, Regional Director of Jockey Club Racecourses NW, said: “We are delighted that Gordon Elliot and his team have confirmed that Tiger Roll’s main goal for the season is the 2021 Aintree Randox Health Grand National.
Gordon said that Tiger Roll will also be competing in first class at Downroyal later this month.
“He is a special horse that has captured the imagination of racing and non-racing fans across the country and is one of only five horses in our 181-year history to win Grand Nationals in a row.
“With fingers crossed we will see him in Aintree next April, where he will win the Randox Health Grand National for the third year in a row”.
