New branch wants to employ employees from Liverpool with 30 offered jobs.

More than 30 jobs are to be created after a building materials retailer has confirmed that it will open a new branch in the city in 2021.

Liverpool will receive an urgently needed boost to employment in the new year.

The company said it wants to employ people from the surrounding area.

It will be the 70th branch of Selco in the UK and recruitment will cover a wide range of positions, with virtually all jobs being given to people from the region.

Selco Builders Warehouse will open its new store on Dunnings Bridge Road in Bootle. The opening is currently scheduled for April next year.

“We have four stores in Manchester and one in Warrington, so this will strengthen our offering in the North West of England.

Howard Luft, Managing Director of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “We have always had the long-term goal of opening a branch in Liverpool and we are delighted that this will become a reality next year.

“We are delighted with the location we have secured and our aim is to open next April, subject to ongoing developments with Coronavirus.

“We want to offer real career opportunities to people in Liverpool and give them the chance to move up in Selco.

“Our recruitment policy has always been to employ people from the local community of the branch and this will continue here.

“The branch will also give a further boost to local business people as they will have a greater chance of enjoying the benefits Selco offers – unrivalled availability, with the widest range of products in stock, as well as excellent customer service and retail prices.
