Man killed in the 1920s after hitting a truck during a “devastating incident” on the M56


The 26-year-old man was driving on the M56 when his blue Renault Clio crashed into a stationary Autobahnmeister truck on the road to the east.

A young man died after his car collided with a parked truck on the hard shoulder yesterday.

The MEN reports , A 57-year-old man and a 35-year-old man were taken to hospital with minor injuries and have since been discharged.

The young driver of the Clio was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

Emergency services were on the scene on Saturday around 9:45 p.m. near junction 3 to Gatley, Stockport.

“Our officials are working hard to find out exactly what happened in the run-up to this collision and we are asking anyone who has information to come forward and talk to us.

Det Con Emma Kennedy of the GMP Heavy Collision Investigation Unit said, “Our officers are working hard to find out exactly what happened in the collision: “This is a devastating incident and our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this very difficult time.

“This is a busy highway and we believe there are a number of witnesses who may have line camera footage or information that can help us in our investigation.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
