A 14-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found stabbed to death on the street.
The police announced that the child remains in custody along with a 21-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a perpetrator. Both were arrested in London after being stabbed to death in Crawley, Sussex, in the southeast of England. Armed police were called to the scene of the crime on Tuesday evening where the victim, 24, was discovered. He was seriously injured and treated by paramedics and an air ambulance doctor before being pronounced dead.
The two arrests came more than 24 hours later after Sussex police launched a manhunt when officers were trying to track down a suspect.
Forensic teams were seen working at the scene of the stabbing, which was sealed off at the start of the investigation. A video posted in the social media highlighted the extent of the investigation, with a number of ambulance vehicles and police sirens being recorded while residents said the city was “shaken” by the murder.
Flowers and personal messages were left on the street where the murder took place. A note on a message read: “RIP. Disappeared, but never forgotten. May you rest in perfect peace,” local media reported.
