Cookie lovers in Ohio are spending their money on a survey for the US presidential election in 2020 – and Donald Trump is currently in the lead.
Busken Bakery in Cincinnati, Ohio, has been selling packs of cookies for 30 years, with designs inspired by presidential candidates. And by comparing the sales of each candidate’s cookies, the bakery has correctly predicted the outcome of the last nine elections – including the 2016 election, in which Donald Trump won.
In its three stores in the Cincinnati area, the company sells two different types of election cookies – a blue one with a caricature of Joe Biden and a red one with a Donald Trump version.
Trump has increased its lead in the cookie survey in recent weeks. Two weeks ago, the President was ahead with 8,439 Trump cookies sold, compared to 7,052 Biden cookies sold.
As of October 30, 2020, the number of Trump cookies sold was 18,025, compared to 13,066 Biden cookies sold. Some buyers have remained impartial, as 8,408 packs representing the “cookie party” were sold.

Even though the bakery has been predicting the results of the presidential elections for 30 years, its history goes back further. Busken Bakery was founded in the 1920s by Joe Busken Sr. and has made a name for itself in Cincinnati and beyond thanks to the company’s fresh donuts and pastries.
As the company grew, Busken Sr. bought a failed grocery store and turned it into the bakery people know and love. Today it is run by Busken Sr. in the third generation – two Busken Sr. grandchildren – and sends cookies and other sweet treats all over the country.
Meanwhile, other indicators have suggested that Biden could win the race for the White House.
The stock market’s “presidential predictor” – based on the performance of the S&P 500 index in the last three months before an election – correctly predicted 20 of the last 23 presidential winners. This is an accuracy rate of 87 percent.
Since Ronald Reagan won a second term in 1984, he has correctly predicted the next occupant of the White House in every presidential election year.
It predicts with only six tenths of a percentage point that Joe Biden will be the next US president….
