Powerball results, numbers for the 31.10.20: Did anyone win the 127 million dollars?

The winning numbers in the draw for the Powerball on Saturday night were 2, 6, 40, 42 and 55, the Powerball was 24 and the Powerplay was X3.

According to the Powerball website, nobody claimed the $127 million jackpot for the October 31st drawing. As a result, the prize money will now move on to the next draw on Thursday, November 5. The estimated jackpot will then be $137 million (with a cash value of $106.6 million).

Although no one won the jackpot in Saturday night’s draw, there were some big winners.

A player in Arizona and another player in Pennsylvania correctly matched five white balls to win $1 million in prizes. Another player from Massachusetts also matched five white balls, but doubled his prize to $2 million thanks to a power play purchase.

Eighteen other players correctly matched four white balls and the Powerball to win $50,000 in prizes. Five more tripled their prize money to $150,000 thanks to a power play purchase.

In September, the Powerball jackpot was reset to $20 million after a player in New York hit the $94 million jackpot. The winning ticket in the September 16th drawing was sold at Minogue’s Beverage at 2421 Route 9 in Ballston Spa, according to the Powerball website.

Previously, the jackpot had not been won since August 12, when a lucky player in Florida brought together all five white balls and the Powerball to receive a massive payout of $169 million.

The Powerball jackpot was also won twice in June. One winner, Thomas Cook, shared his $22 million prize with his best friend Joseph Feeney. The Wisconsin couple shook hands in 1992 and agreed that if either of them ever won the powerball jackpot, they would share their winnings regardless of who bought the ticket.

Earlier this month, a West Virginia player hit a $136 million jackpot.

How do you play Powerball?

Powerball is an extremely popular multi-state lottery that can be played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The drawings are usually held twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday nights at 22:59 ET. Each draw is broadcast live from the Lottery Studio in Tallahassee, Florida.

Each ticket costs $2 per game, with players choosing five numbers from 1 to 69 and a red Powerball number from 1 to 26. Under certain circumstances, players can also multiply non-jackpot winnings by using the Power Play option for an additional $1.

Why is the Powerball so low?

Powerball has halved its minimum payout from $40 million to $20 million, with the minimum payout between March draws increased by $2 million due to the Coronavirus Pandemic that led to lower sales according to lottery officials.

Gregory Mineo, chairman of the Powerball product group and director of the Maine Lottery, said in a statement at the time: “Powerball players in many U.S. lottery jurisdictions are protected by local orders or referrals that have affected normal consumer behavior.
