Mehdi Hasan summarizes the “horrors” of the Trump presidency in a two-minute viral video.

Television presenter Mehdi Hasan squeezed an incredible crowd into just two minutes as he summed up the “horror” of Donald Trump’s presidency in a clip that spread quickly.

As the clock counted down from 120 seconds, Hasan spoke quickly when, on Monday during Peacock TV’s Mehdi Hasan show, he listed some of the biggest scandals and crises that have rocked Trump since he took office. On Twitter, the clip has already garnered more than 900,000 views.

Hasan said in a tweet that he tried to “summarize the horrors and lows of Trump’s four-year term… TWO MINUTES”.

“Start the clock,” Hasan said, before referring to some of the president’s biggest scandals, including the Muslim travel ban and the widely condemned “zero tolerance” policy that led to thousands of migrant children being separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border.

“This is a president who introduced a Muslim ban, closed the door to Syrian refugees, locked up migrant children at the border, praised neo-Nazis in Charlottesville as ‘very fine people’, called one black woman a dog and another a low IQ, called African countries S-hole countries, suggested that everyone in Haiti has AIDS,” Hasan said.

He went on to say the president “defended an aid worker accused of domestic violence, defended a Supreme Court nominee accused of sexual assault, was himself accused of rape, passed through four White House Chiefs of Staff, four White House Press Secretaries and four White House National Security Advisors in just four years.

Trump “fired an FBI chief, tried to dismiss the special advisor, was indicted, transferred the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem in violation of international law, went to the sword dance with the Saudi royals and then helped them cover up the murder of a journalist,” he continued.

Hasan also noted Trump, “said he fell in love with Kim Jong Un and vowed to North Korea, never said a word about Vladimir Putin, incited violence against the fake news media and called the press ‘enemies of the people’.

Trump “also called on “four non-white congressmen to ‘go back where they came from,’ accused American Jews of being ignorant and disloyal, called on the Proud Boys to ‘stay back and stand by,’ praised QAnon, proudly called himself a nationalist, insulted immigrants as intruders, encouraged voter oppression, tore up the Iran deal, tore up the Paris Climate Change Accord, tore up a nuclear arms control treaty, tried to tear up Obamacare,” Hasan continued.

He also “relaxed “the regulations for drone attacks, relaxed the restrictions on ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement],” Hasan continued.

He added that Trump “was laughed at by UN leaders, pardoned war criminals, compared himself to Lincoln, compared himself to Jesus, called himself the King of Israel, said he was the chosen one, mocked the existence of climate change, shut down the government without good reason, declared a national emergency without good reason.

Hasan went on to say Trump “repeatedly violated the compensation clause, hid a secret bank account in China, paid only $750 in federal income tax but refused to release his tax returns, granted trillion-dollar tax cuts to the rich, gave us the worst unemployment figures since the Great Depression, turned a blind eye to 3,000 deaths in Puerto Rico.

Perhaps an indication of just how much controversy there was during Trump’s term in office, as his response to the coronavirus pandemic, widely considered the biggest crisis the president faced, took only about 10 seconds of Hasan’s time.

Hasan said Trump “presided over nearly a quarter of a million Americans killed by the coronavirus, tested positive for the coronavirus himself, but continued to mock the wearing of masks” and “asked if we could be injected with disinfectants.

Then he noted how Trump “suggested that Obama murdered SEAL Team Six, claimed that the governor of Virginia executed a baby, delighted the Scouts with stories of orgies, asked the Justice Department to lock up his opponents, played golf more than 250 times.

Just before his time ran out, Hasan noted that fact-checkers report that the president has told more than 22,000 lies since taking office.

“Look, I could go on and on, but I’m running out of time,” he added. “And indeed, we are all out of time. If you have not yet voted, please vote. That’s all I have left to say.”.
