Mary Trump, the niece of President Donald Trump, said things will not be good for her uncle after his election defeat in 2020.
“Things look bleak for Donald after January,” Mary Trump said in an interview with The Guardian published on Sunday. “It’s bleak for him.”
“He has more than $400 million in debt over the next four years,” Mary continued. “Why should his lenders be lenient with him at this time? He has never paid anyone back before. His business has gone to nothing. He destroyed his brand.”
“He’s going to have one meltdown after another right now,” she also said. “He’s never been in a situation like this before.”
Accompanying Trump’s exit from the White House is the review of lawsuits and investigations, including the president’s tax affairs.
According to the New York Times, documents showed that Trump paid no U.S. income tax in 10 of 15 years and only $750 in 2016 and 2017 – the year he was elected president and the year he took office.
In addition to not paying federal income tax, Trump reportedly received a $72.9 million refund from the IRS in 2010 after claiming more than $1 billion in earlier losses. The large refund is subject to an ongoing IRS audit, and a contrary finding could force Trump to return the money with additional interest and penalties, according to The Guardian.
But “the worst thing Donald is facing is not financial difficulties or the prospect of jail,” Mary said. “It becomes irrelevant. I don’t think he would ever recover from it.”
Although the total number of votes is not yet official and Trump has not yet given in, the Associated Press and major TV stations called for the election of Joe Biden on Saturday, as he narrowly won in Pennsylvania.
Trump hinted on Saturday that he would not give up the election for Biden, and threatened “unspecified legal action” according to the Associated Press.
“He will not give up,” Mary said. “Worse, he will not participate in the normal activities that guarantee a peaceful transition.
Mary celebrated Biden’s victory in a tweet on Saturday.

In the Tweet, Mary was sitting on the beach in a Biden Harris hat, holding a glass of champagne in her hand.
“To America. Thanks, folks,” Mary’s caption read.
Mary also published an unveiling book earlier this year. In the book, “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man,” the president was criticized for being “completely unqualified” for this position.
In the book, Mary said she was considering speaking in 2016, but for the past three years the Trump administration has forced her to do so.
“If he is granted a second term, it would be the end of American democracy,” Mary wrote.
President Trump did not respond in time for publication to Washington Newsday’s request for a comment.
