Gavin Newsom’s Stimulus Checks Are Called “Recall Rebates” by Caitlyn Jenner.

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s plan to send out another round of stimulus checks to residents has been criticized by Caitlyn Jenner as a political ploy to win the recall election.

With a budget surplus, Newsom announced in May that he planned to send a $600 stimulus check to roughly 67 percent of Californians, plus an extra $500 to families with children. Direct payments have proven to be a popular measure among Americans, and while Newsom’s plan would still need to pass the California legislature, it has the potential to win support from voters.

During an interview on America’s Newsroom on Wednesday, Jenner said of Newsom, “He’s got no shame.” “He’s talking about a recall rebate for all voters.”

California was one of the first states to close as COVID-19 cases grew in the United States, and it continues to impose some of the most stringent restrictions in the country. It sparked outrage among business owners who were forced to close their doors, as well as residents who objected to the restrictions placed on their lives.

During the pandemic, the recall effort against Newsom gained traction, with the governor’s response focusing heavily on the economic toll as well as the impact school closures have had on children and parents.

As the likelihood of a recall grew, Newsom began to relax restrictions, which he justified as being based on science and data. Critics, on the other hand, believed the reopening was motivated by politics, and Jenner told America’s Newsroom, “of course he’s going to open it up.”

With the state returning to normal, Jenner acknowledged that her campaign to unseat Newsom may become “a little bit more difficult,” but added, “California is not forgetting.”

“When their child has been out of school for the last year, they have missed an entire year of education, social activities, and sports,” Jenner said.

Former California Governor Gray Davis was less optimistic about the pandemic’s long-term effects. Davis, the only other California governor to be recalled, told Washington Newsday in January that he believes Newsom will be re-elected when his term ends in 2022.

At the time, Newsom still had a nearly 60 percent approval rating and with vaccinations on the rise, Davis said it would only. This is a brief summary.
