The Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw called pro-trump lawyer L. Lin Wood a “con man” and a “Democrat” after the lawyer told voters in Georgia not to run in the runoffs for the Senate early next year.
On Thursday night Crenshaw accused Wood in the social media of wanting “donations for his lawyer’s fees” and that the Republicans would destroy themselves as the party tries to keep its seats in the Georgian Senate and the overall majority in the upper house.
Meanwhile, the GOP legislature struck at Wood after the lawyer said at a “stop the theft” rally in Georgia that Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue did not deserve their votes before calling for them to boycott the crucial Senate elections scheduled for January 5.
Responding to a clip of Wood speaking at the rally, Rep. Crenshaw said, “Lin Wood is a Democrat who wants Republicans to destroy themselves. Just because he wears a MAGA hat does not mean he shares a single value with you. He just wants your donations for his legal fees. He’s a fraud.”
He also called on the Georgians to participate in the run-off vote for the Senate on January 5 to protect “the achievements” of the past four years under the leadership of President Donald Trump.
Washington Newsday has asked L. Lin Wood for a comment. This article will be updated with each response.
Along with former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell, Wood on Wednesday repeated groundless allegations of mass election fraud in Georgia, focusing on the Dominion’s electoral systems used in parts of the state.
However, most of his speech focused on attacks on Georgia’s leading Republicans, including Governor Brian Kemp and Sens. Loeffler and Perdue before their crucial election campaigns.
“You do not deserve your vote. Don’t give it to them,” Wood said. “Why would you go back and vote in another rigged election, for God’s sake? Fix it. You have to fix it before we do it again.”
Elsewhere in his speech, the lawyer struck at Governor Kemp and urged the assembly to surround the head of state’s house and blow his horns until he comes out.
“I want you to go to the Governor’s mansion. I want you to circle it,” he said. “I want you to blow the horns until Brian Kemp comes out and orders a special session of the Georgian legislature,” he said.
The hat-wearing lawyer for MAGA later added: “We want to clean up the mess he has made, and then he can resign. And then, as far as I’m concerned, lock him up.”
