Pub handed over £1,000 fine and closed after violation of coronavirus rules.

Police reported that the Oak Tree pub in Liverpool Road in Huyton served food that had not been prepared at the venue, while the staff were not wearing PPE either.

A pub was fined £1,000 and closed its doors after violating Covid 19 regulations.

Superintendent Diane Pownall said: “Sadly this is not the first case of a Knowsley pub breaking the rules.

When a “substantial meal” is served, guests are allowed to order alcohol to drink.

Under the Tier 3 restrictions that apply to the Liverpool City area, pubs were forced to close but restaurants were allowed to stay open.

said Superintendent Diane Pownall: “Unfortunately, this is not the first time that a pub in Knowsley has failed to comply with the regulations”.

Officials said the pub had been fined a hefty fine on Tuesday following reports of violations.

The Oak Tree Pub was asked by ECHO to comment.

“The pub closed voluntarily and all customers left. The investigation is now being continued by our licensing unit.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Around 4.40pm, the officers visited Oak Tree on Liverpool Road and found several breaches of the rules, including the preparation of food outside the pub and warming up for customers, the lack of forensic surveillance and staff without PPE.

Recently the pub announced that it would only open for customers at lunchtime.

She wrote: “Just to let all our customers know that we will reopen at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday 16 October.

On October 15, the company announced on its Facebook page that it would be serving customers, but under strict rules.

“Starting tomorrow, we will only be allowed to serve alcohol if it is purchased together with a meal on our premises. When you visit our pub, you will be asked to take a seat while your order of food and drinks is being taken.

“We know how frustrating it must be for all our customers in these strange times, but we can only stay open if everyone abides by these rules. Once again, thank you all for your continued support and understanding. We hope to see you all again tomorrow and in the future.

said Supt Pownall: “Unfortunately this is not the first time that a pub in Knowsley has broken the rules and last night’s action was absolutely necessary.

“We will be serving a breakfast menu from 10am to 12pm. We will then serve our lunch and dinner menus. All customers must sign in and adhere to the rule of one table per house and also wear a mask when they enter the premises, and always when not seated.
