The police said that the pensioner, who was “shaken by the ordeal”, was confronted with a man in St. Helens this morning at 5:30 am.
An elderly woman was woken by a stranger who held a torch to her face during a terrifying burglary, police said.
The police said that the pensioner was “shaken by the ordeal”.
When the woman woke up, she asked who the man was before he started looking for money.
He also stole a lot of cash.
A man with a “rough voice” ransacked rooms of her house on Huncote Avenue before stealing a purple leather purse with credit and debit cards.
The police said the woman was not injured and described the suspect as a man of stocky stature, about 5 feet tall and in black clothing.
“I would also like to ask anyone who has video or dashboard footage to check their cameras in case they recorded anything important.
said Detective Sergeant Leanne Toole: “I appeal to anyone who was in the Huncote Avenue area this morning and saw or saw something suspicious to contact us.
“Fortunately, the woman was not injured, but it must have been a shock for her to be awakened in her own home like that. We are determined to apprehend this person and bring him to justice”.
