Emergency services were called to the intersection of Maghull Northway and Eastway on Tuesday evening and it was reported that about 10 police cars were present.
A seven-year-old girl remains in hospital, fighting for her life after suffering serious injuries in an accident at Maghull.
She suffered severe head injuries on Tuesday evening.
Both drivers involved in the accident between a Range Rover and a Mercedes suffered minor injuries.
Officials said she was rushed to the hospital at the time, where she remains in critical but stable condition.
The girl suffered severe head injuries after she was involved in the accident, around 10:40 p.m.
The spokeswoman said: “Our road police unit is requesting information following a traffic accident with serious injuries in Maghull last night, Tuesday, October 27.
“A passenger of the Mercedes, a seven-year-old girl, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. She is still in a critical but stable condition. The drivers of both vehicles were slightly injured.
“Around 10:40 p.m., emergency services were called to the intersection of Northway and Eastway to report a collision between a Range Rover and a Mercedes.
“The roads were closed for several hours when initial investigations were made. The investigation is still ongoing”.
