Brilliant new way to see Merseyside’s past and bring old photos to life.

How about your own family photos from past years or scenes from the neighbourhood?

Have you ever wondered what Liverpool’s most famous streets and historic sports moments would look like in full color?

With our new tool you can see historical pictures from past decades in full color

Our sister website has introduced its latest feature called Memory Lane and shows you a wide range of local pictures from recent history, based on your zip code, which are between one and 100 miles away from you.

Now you can find out, with a brilliant new online archive that allows you to fully colorize old black and white images, all for free.

Simply register with your email address and you will have full access to hundreds of thousands of images collected from dozens of different online archives such as Britain From Above, Francis Frith, the library of our publisher Reach plc, Geograph and many others.

Your own historical images can also be added to the archive for others to see.

We’ve included some images from the archive to show how it’s done – including a memorable moment for Everton, a behind-the-scenes shot of Bill Shankly at work, and children who were children in 1965.

And you’ll be able to breathe new life into your own black and white photos using Memory Lane’s incredible tool to bring them to full color.
