As four fire engines arrive on the scene, the paintball center goes up in flames.

Late Friday night, a fire broke out at a decommissioned paintball facility in Kirkby.

On the border of Kirkby and Rainford, firefighters were dispatched to the scene in New Cut Lane.

The building was described as “well alight” when they got at the site at 11:24 p.m. on Thursday.

Four fire engines were on the scene, with workers battling the blaze from the outside.

The main body of the fire had been extinguished by 12.30 a.m. Thursday, and personnel were using high-pressure hose reel jets to dampen it down.

“Crews departed the area at 1.44am,” a Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said. The reason for this has yet to be determined.”
