After a Champions League bet, a Liverpool supporter gets a fantastic Nat Phillips tattoo.
It’s unclear how much longer Nat Phillips will remain at Liverpool.
After his team’s triumphant end to the season, one Reds supporter had the defense “immortalized” eternally in ink form.
Danny Eccles, 30, from Wallasey, has a fresh tattoo depicting Phillips bashing a brick with his skull on his forearm.
Danny’s leg is adorned with a graphic by sports illustrator Karl Thyer.
Phillips has already granted his approval to the piece of artwork.
“I was looking at the run-in to the (Manchester) United game,” Danny told the ECHO. I didn’t think we’d finish fourth.
“I told the guys, ‘OK, if we make the top four, I’ll get a Nat Phillips tattoo.’
“I scolded him when he initially started because I knew I’d be watching Virgil van Dijk for two years!”
“I was ecstatic as soon as Alisson’s header against West Brom went in.
“However, once I regained my composure, I realized, ‘I’m getting Nat Phillips tattooed on me right now.’
“The number of likes and comments on my Twitter account has skyrocketed. A few Blues and Mancunians aren’t happy about it. But I’ve enjoyed being open and honest with you.
“It made my day when the big man himself reacted on it.”
Liverpool star Phillips threw out three applause emojis on Danny’s Instagram and said: “Outstanding.”
“Only admiration for a man who keeps his word, fair play.”
“A guy on Instagram took my Nat Phillips artwork of him heading a brick to get a tattoo,” Karl, the original image’s artist, commented on Twitter. “I am truly honored.”
Danny now wants Phillips to stay at Anfield after he helped his team return to the Champions League.
“Nat and Virgil next season – that’s what I want!” he added.
