Spider-Man: Miles Morales has a lot of side jobs to do around New York City, and some of the most frustrating tasks are the sound samples Miles has to collect to make a mix tape with Uncle Aaron. In this guide, we’ll tell you the source and location of each sound you’re looking for in each district.
The opportunity to collect sound samples opens up around the middle of the campaign, shortly after Uncle Aaron turns out to be the prowler. In the introductory mission, he will lead you to a sound that sounds like a bell. Jump into the water and use the listen mode to approach the buoy with the bell on it. Eight more sound sample symbols will then appear on the map, one in each district. Here is where you have to go to solve each one.
The Financial District: For this sound sample, Uncle Aaron mentions a “sound on schedule”. This refers to this ferry that was spotted from the northeast corner of the explorable area.
Greenwich: For the Greenwich sound sample, Uncle Aaron mentions a “sound that indicates the time”. Hop on the floor and approach this large church. Trigger List Mode when you are in the northwest corner of the explorable area.
Downtown: When it comes to Midtown, look for something that sounds like “an electric current. That’s this big sign in front of you in the middle of Times Square. You can press the record button on the southern edge of the explorable area.
Upper West Side: From here Aaron will take you to a fire station. The place where the “station came to life” is a little bit towards the middle area where a group of firefighters is talking.
Central Park: In the park, look for something that is “quiet on its own, but loud in a group”. This refers to the flock of pigeons that gather in the northwest corner of the play area. However, this one has an additional trick, because you have to use your camouflage ability on the daddy pad to not scare the birds away. If they fly away, just wait a few moments and they will come back. As long as you are hidden, they will not fly away.
Upper East Side: This sound example is described as a “soft, even beat”. If you are standing on the ground in the area of use, it is this large dripping water tank right above you.
Harlem: Back in Harlem, Uncle Aaron remembers falling asleep to a rhythmic beat. He talks about the subway system that crosses the northeastern part of the mission area.
Chinatown: As the last symbol on the map, Aaron mentions a “light, distinctive sound”. Hop on the floor and walk towards this pagoda building in the northwest of the mission area. Aim your Listen mode at the wind chime.
When you have found all the sound samples on the main map, a side quest called “Back to the Beginning” opens. Follow the waypoint to the Prowler’s secret hideout, which is located here on the map.
Once you enter, approach the locker in the middle of the room and press X to “use the sounds”. This will trigger a musical lock that will give you access to the Purple Reign suit.
This is all you need to know about the “Sound Samples” subplot in Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available on PS5 and PS4 on November 12.
