Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Launch Timeline, Pre-Orders, Reviews and What to Expect

Samsung is getting ready to unveil its next flagship smartphone lineup, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra is once again expected to take center stage. Alongside it, the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ will form the core of Samsung’s premium offering for 2026. While Samsung usually sticks to a predictable schedule, this year’s launch appears to be slightly different — and that has set off plenty of speculation about timing, availability, and pre-order perks.

Here’s a clear look at what’s shaping up for Samsung’s next big release.

A Different Schedule for Galaxy Unpacked

For several years, Samsung has introduced its Galaxy S series in mid or late January. That pattern now seems to be changing. Industry insiders suggest that Samsung has adjusted its plans after reworking the product lineup and manufacturing schedule.

Instead of a January event, multiple sources now point to February 25 as the date for the next Galaxy Unpacked presentation. The event is expected to take place in San Francisco and will likely follow Samsung’s usual format, with a global livestream aimed at fans and media alike.

This timing places Samsung’s announcement just days before Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, giving the company a chance to dominate the conversation before the world’s biggest mobile tech show begins.

    Why the Lineup Changed

Earlier expectations included new “Edge” and “Pro” models, but recent reports suggest Samsung decided to keep things simpler this year. The company is expected to stick with the familiar trio: Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Behind the scenes, this reshuffle appears to have pushed production timelines back slightly, which explains the move from January to late February for the main launch event.

    When Pre-Orders Should Open

Samsung traditionally opens pre-orders immediately after its Unpacked keynote ends, and there’s no reason to think this year will be different.

If the event does take place on February 25, pre-orders should go live the same day or shortly after. In previous years, Samsung has attracted early buyers with generous incentives such as higher trade-in values and free storage upgrades.

However, with memory and storage costs rising globally, some long-standing promotions — like free storage upgrades — may be scaled back or adjusted.

    When Reviews Will Appear

Between the launch event and the retail release, the first wave of hands-on reviews will begin to appear. Tech websites and YouTube creators usually publish their full reviews about a week before the phones reach stores.

This year, that window overlaps with Mobile World Congress, which could make the timing even more interesting. Samsung may choose to lift the review embargo right in the middle of MWC, ensuring that the Galaxy S26 Ultra stays in the spotlight while competitors are also making announcements.

Retail Release: The Most Likely Date

The big question, of course, is when people will actually be able to buy the Galaxy S26 Ultra in stores.

According to European retail sources, including reports from Dealabs, the Galaxy S26 series is expected to arrive in stores on March 11, 2026. If this holds true, the phones will go on sale exactly two weeks after the Unpacked event.

Historically, Samsung tends to launch its flagship devices simultaneously in major markets, including Europe, the UK, the US, and South Korea. That means March 11 is likely to be the global release date, not just a regional one.

This timing also gives Samsung a strong marketing window: the phones will hit shelves just days after MWC ends, when consumer interest in new devices is still high.

What About the Galaxy S26 FE?

Samsung is also expected to release a more affordable Galaxy S26 FE later in the year. The “Fan Edition” models usually arrive several months after the main lineup and are designed to offer a similar experience at a lower price point.

If Samsung follows its usual pattern, the S26 FE probably won’t appear until late 2026.

    A Carefully Timed Launch

With a February announcement and a March retail release, Samsung seems to be positioning the Galaxy S26 Ultra for maximum impact in the first quarter of the year. The company will be hoping that strong marketing, combined with early reviews and in-store availability, will keep attention firmly on its flagship — even as rivals showcase their own devices at MWC.

If everything goes according to plan, the Galaxy S26 Ultra should be one of the most talked-about smartphones of early 2026.
