The emergency services were called to Mount Road in Bebington on Monday evening at about 5:30 pm.
After a collision between a bicycle and a car, a police roadblock was set up on a pitch-black road.
The officers blocked the road and the drivers were turned away from the scene.
In a statement, a spokesman for Merseyside police confirmed that the cyclist had only suffered minor injuries but that the investigation was still ongoing.
Shortly afterwards, roadblocks were imposed, but the roadblocks remained in place three hours later.
Witnesses reported that a cyclist was pushed off his bike and suffered injuries.
“Only minor injuries to the cyclist were reported, but while officers were inspecting the scene, roadblocks were set up.
Police said: “The officers were called to Mount Road in Bebington at 5.30pm to report a collision between a car and a cyclist in traffic.
“The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping with the investigation.
