After a six-year absence, LG has brought back one of its most striking television designs. The company unveiled the OLED evo W6 Wallpaper TV at CES, marking the return of its wafer-thin, wall-hugging display — this time with a largely wireless setup.
The original Wallpaper TV debuted in 2017 and quickly became a symbol of LG’s design-driven OLED ambitions. According to Engadget, the W6 is the first new Wallpaper model since that era, signaling a renewed push into ultra-minimalist home entertainment.
Ultra-Thin Design With a New Internal Architecture
The OLED evo W6 measures just 9 millimeters thick, thanks to a completely redesigned internal structure. While slightly thicker than the very first Wallpaper model, the new chassis allows the TV to mount fully flush against the wall using an updated wall-mount system, eliminating visible gaps.
LG says the goal was not only thinness, but also structural stability and improved performance — a balance that earlier generations struggled to achieve.
Wireless Video With Zero Connect Box
One of the most significant upgrades is LG’s Zero Connect Box. As reported by Engadget, the W6 no longer requires traditional HDMI or input cables running directly to the TV. Instead, all external connections are handled by a separate box that can be placed up to 10 meters (33 feet) away.
The television itself only needs a power connection.
This approach dramatically reduces cable clutter and reinforces the “wallpaper” illusion that defines the series.
Brighter OLED, Reduced Reflections
According to CNET, the W6 introduces LG’s new Hyper Radiant Color Technology, designed to improve color accuracy, black levels, and overall brightness. The TV is also engineered to achieve the lowest reflectance of any LG television to date.
As a result, the OLED evo W6 has become the first TV in the industry to earn Intertek’s “Reflection Free with Premium” certification, a milestone for OLED display technology.
Brightness Booster Ultra and Performance
The W6 includes Brightness Booster Ultra, the same technology found in LG’s upcoming G6 series. LG claims this system delivers up to a 20% brightness increase over previous OLED generations.
While the company has not disclosed the W6’s exact peak brightness, it has confirmed that the panel exceeds earlier Wallpaper models.
Gallery+ Art Mode and Gaming Features
LG’s Gallery+ service will be available on the W6, offering more than 4,500 artworks and images that can be displayed when the TV is idle, turning the screen into a digital art canvas.
For gamers, the OLED evo W6 supports:
- Up to 165Hz refresh rate
- AMD FreeSync Premium
- NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility
A Design Statement Returns
According to early CES impressions, LG is positioning the W6 not just as a television, but as a design centerpiece that blends into modern living spaces. With wireless connectivity, enhanced brightness, and an ultra-thin profile, the Wallpaper OLED TV appears to be less of a revival — and more of a reinvention.
