Chief Fortnite’ and Kratos leaks could expose Xbox and PlayStation skins

The Fortnite Season 5 has just started and it looks like this could be one of the most interesting battle passes. With some of the world’s most notorious bounty hunters and targets joining Battle Royale, could Kratos and Master Chief be next? While the former has been essentially confirmed, it’s now the latter that gives the Xbox loyalties something to look forward to.

Kratos is the first of these, and the proof of his likely debut appeared in a tweet from the official PlayStation account on Wednesday afternoon. In the latest audio broadcast, kindly provided to Nolan North’s Iron Man, he says: “Note to self: Don’t research targets before you transport them to the island, because if you do, you might find out a few things you really don’t want to know…like the next guy you pick up literally defeated several gods with his bare hands in a fit of uncontrollable rage!

Since this has been tweeted from official sources, it seems decided that Kratos will soon mix it up with Peely, Jonesy and the Mandalorian. Here is indeed an alleged first glimpse of the skin courtesy of Fortnite Leaker Bacon on Twitter.

But if you take a closer look at these pictures, you will see that Kratos is apparently not the only platform mascot making his debut on the Epic podium, as it looks like Halos Master Chief will also join the party. Provided these images are legitimate, the Microsoft-centered skin will arrive as part of a bundle with the main equipment, Lil’ Warthog Emote and the UN Security Council’s Pelican Glider. Master Chief has not been formally revealed by Microsoft or Epic in the same way as Kratos, but we can imagine that news will find its way to official sources very soon or sometime shortly after Kratos’ arrival at the Item Shop.

Given the Bounty Hunter theme of Fortnite Season 5, it makes sense to have Kratos and Master Chief on the list. After all, Kratos has been hunting divine targets for the past 15 years, while Master Chief has been playing both the role of hunter and hunter for the past two decades. Regardless of the platform’s loyalty, it seems fitting that these two iconic characters should meet on the island.

This thought raises the question of how exactly these skins will play with other platforms once they become available. Will users on Xbox, PC or Switch be able to buy Kratos? If I buy Master Chief on an Xbox platform, will I still be able to choose him from my outfit locker on PlayStation? If I am on PlayStation, can I even see the Master Chief skin? Epic has offered platform-exclusive Fortnite skins in the past, but given the high profile of these leaks, we are curious if there could be special rules for these characters in particular. If everything goes as we think it will, players will soon be able to live out their fanboy flamewar fantasies in one of the coolest ways possible.

Fortnite is now available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Android.
