Animal Crossing: Halloween Event Guide from New Horizons: Get Lollipops, Candy & More.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about to host its big Halloween event, and that means it’s time to put all the candy you’ve been hoarding for the past month to good use. In this guide, we’ll show you how best to make the most of the event and which spooky items are most desirable during the celebration.

What time does the Halloween event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons begin?

If you start the game for the first time on October 31, Isabelle will tell you that the special Halloween event will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. local time. In other words, as soon as the evening bell rings, it’s time to start cooking.

What to do during the Halloween event?

The basic premise of the event is to give your villagers candy that you bought in Nook’s Shop in October. One candy can be purchased on Halloween, so the most loyal Animal Crossing fans have up to 31 candies ready to take home.

When you hold the candy in your hand, all you have to do is go to the villagers on your island and give them a reward if they ask for it. In return, they will either give you a ready-made spooky item or offer you a spooky DIY recipe instead. In general, you start the event by collecting items or scare reaction, and then the DIY recipes follow.

Just walk around with all the candy you’ve collected throughout the event, and you’ll basically have the full list of spooky items and recipes at the end. If you get a lollipop, hold onto it. These will be very important later.

Below is a list of the spooky items that you should pay the most attention to, as they can only be earned on Halloween. For the complete list of spooky recipes, please refer to our October update guide.

Spooky Carriage
Ghostly Garland
Spooky Set
Ghostly Wand
Spooky carpet
Ghostly floor
Ghostly Wall

The first three take the form of do-it-yourself recipes, while the last three are just objects.

How to get more sweets

If you weren’t very busy in October to get your daily candy ration from the Nooks, you’ll probably run out of sweets very quickly. This can be fixed quite easily, but it makes the Halloween event a little more time consuming to reap the full reward.

Sometimes the villagers outside will give you candy shortly after the first time you run out of candy. However, this source will not last forever.
During the event, two or three villagers will be waiting in their homes to give you sweets. Just look for the lights and go inside. They will give you a candy about every 15 minutes. The villagers who focus on the candy will take turns, so you won’t have to collect candy from the same houses all night long.
The best way to get candy is to scare the villagers by wearing Jack’s costume (which contains Jack’s head and Jack’s robe). This trick works at least once for everyone on your island.

What about Jack and Lollipops?

Jack is the focus of the Animal Crossing Halloween event. You can find him and his big pumpkin head walking around near the town hall area of your island. He offers you rewards for sweets just like the other villagers, but what he really wants is lollipops. As explained above, you collect lollipops when you give candy to the villagers. However, they are earned randomly, so it may take some time before you get everything you need.

To get the most out of Jack, you need a piece of candy and four lollipops. That’s how the rewards in our game have collapsed:

A piece of candy: Jack’s Head and the Spooky Reaction.
One lollipop: Spooky Carriage.
Two lollipops: Spooky Carriage DIY recipe.
Three lollipops: Spooky Wall DIY.
Four lollipops: Jack’s robe.

Remember that wearing Jack’s Head and Jack’s Robe together will scare your villagers into giving you candy. This is all you need to know about the Halloween event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons: New Horizons is now available on the Nintendo Switch.
