Who wrote the tournament hymn and what is the official Euro 2020 song?

England, Scotland, and Wales have all named their 26-man squads for the European Championships, and they will be greeted with a new Euro 2020 anthem.

Steve Clarke’s side is the first Scottish squad to compete in a major tournament since the World Cup in 1998.

Gareth Bale and Hal Robson-Kanu were key players in Wales’ five-year journey to the semi-finals in France. Gareth Southgate, on the other hand, will be praying that history does not repeat itself after England was eliminated from the last European Championships by Iceland.

K’NAAN released the legendary song Wavin’ Flag before of the 2010 World Cup, and David Guetta and Zara Larsson collaborated on the popular tune This One’s for You for the 2016 European Championships.

This year, two great musicians from the present and the past collaborate to create the song for the postponed Euro 2020 competition.

Martin Garrix, a platinum-selling Dutch artist, has teamed up with Bono and The Edge of U2.

Before the pandemic forced the competition to be rescheduled, the 25-year-old DJ was tasked with creating the official song for the event in 2019.

“Creating the music for one of the world’s biggest sporting events alongside Bono and The Edge has been a wonderful experience,” Garrix stated.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished together, and I can’t wait to share it with the rest of the world!”

‘We Are The People’ is the official title of the tournament song.

The performers had to keep the song hidden for two years once the 2020 event was postponed.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA’s Marketing Director, expects that it will bring “people together.”

“Music and football have the capacity to bring people together. They are vectors of passion and emotion and combining them will extend further the fan celebration of the tournament, as well as reaching out to new audiences.” He said.

It is available to stream across all platforms including Spotify and Apple Music, it has already had 14.5m plays on Spotify alone.
