In the 2020 college football season, there will be 37 bowl games, as announced on Friday by the group now called Bowl Season.
The annual post-season starts on December 19 with the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl and culminates with the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 11, 2020 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
There will be five Bowl games on December 31, 2020 and then five on New Year’s Day, including the two CFP semi-finals at the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. There will be four games on January 2, including the Fiesta Bowl and Orange Bowl.

The 2020 Bowl season will be unlike any other. An important change this season is that the shortened COVID season means that teams are not required to win at least six games – a provision that the NCAA Division I Council waived earlier this year.
The Football Supervisory Committee recommended that this regulation be suspended for the current season due to the pandemic and the possible postponement and cancellation of regular season matches.
“The sacrifice and commitment of student athletes is always inspiring,” said Carparelli. “For the vast majority of seniors who play bowls, it will mean the end of their journey as football players. It is a great honor for us to offer them and their families the thrill of experiencing everything in one last time”.
The Bowl season is a coalition of 44 bowl games. However, there will only be 37 bowl games as seven bowlers have already announced their intention to postpone or cancel their game. These are the Bahamas Bowl, the Celebration Bowl, the Fenway Bowl, the Hawaiian Bowl, the Holiday Bowl, the Quick Lane Bowl and the Redbox Bowl.
