The Liverpool player ratings as Trent Alexander-Arnold are again best, but Minamino has problems.

In the opening moments in only one contribution of the first half, Dreyer was able to hold his own well. He confidently commanded his territory when the Danes threatened the second half.

Alisson Becker 7

Liverpool player ratings for their 2-0 victory in the Champions League against FC Midtjylland

Fabinho 6

Almost through after a tangled dribbling in the area and distribution much, much better than lately. A good double win with Shaqiri at the start and his pass to Salah forced the penalty for the second. Real quality.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 9

Won some good headers early on and was not intimidated by the attack in Midtjylland. Has retired after Fabinho’s departure in the additional responsibility in the defense.

Quite a quiet outing until he came up with worrying injuries. Disappeared.

Joe Gomez 8

His cross won a few corners for Liverpool in the first half and was defensively solid, especially as Midtjylland added pressure late in the game.

Andy Robertson 7

He was pushed forward with determination, but took up a more defensive position after Fabinho’s departure. Substituted in the break.

Jordan Henderson 7

James Milner 7

Xherdan Shaqiri 7

Had blocked a shot for a corner during a rare advance. Came through the hard yards in the first half and then began to influence things more. Booked.

Diogo Jay 7

A couple of strong runs and a wide sweeping volley shot couldn’t influence things sufficiently before the break, but as on the weekend the game grew into the game and scored an important goal.

It took a while to settle into his position, but before the break he started to show some good offensive performances. Excellent pass during the build-up to the opening game.
