Elliott Bennett and Ryan Bowman have been signed by Shrewsbury Town.
Elliott Bennett and Ryan Bowman have both signed with Shrewsbury Town.
Bennett, who spent 11 years in England’s top two divisions with Norwich and Blackburn, has signed a 12-month contract.
Bowman, who joined for an undisclosed cost, has agreed to a two-year contract with the option of a third year.
“I’ve known Elliott for a long time, having worked with him at Bristol City, so I know what I’m getting with him,” manager Steve Cotterill said.
“He’s a consummate professional. In the locker room, he will be able to teach our younger players.
“Around my teams, I want to have one or two ‘go to’ experienced boys.”
“There is a shortage of free agents up top at the moment,” the manager said of the 29-year-old Bowman, who joins from Exeter. We had to pay a charge for Ryan, but I believe it was money well spent.
“He’s all action, he does everything,” says the narrator. He’s been playing up front by himself, which is unusual for strikers these days.
“Last season, he scored 14 goals, none of which were penalties. I don’t see why he won’t score as many goals for us as he did for Exeter.”
