Burnley’s summer recruitment begins with the signing of Nathan Collins, a defender from Stoke City.
Burnley have started their summer recruitment with the signing of Nathan Collins from Stoke City.
The 20-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Potters after making 49 appearances since his debut in April 2019.
“I want to play in the Premier League,” says the player. It’ll be a leap, but I believe I’ll be prepared,” Collins remarked.
“I’m looking for a challenge. That’s why I play football: to test myself, and I’m excited to get started.
“Another reason I came to this club is because the coach here has improved numerous players before.
“I believe I am prepared, but I would like to improve. I want to improve and assist this team.”
Collins, a Republic of Ireland Under-21 central defender who can also play on the right, had his last season cut short in February due to a foot injury, but he is again fully recovered.
Clarets chairman Alan Pace expressed his delight at having beaten off competition for the “much-coveted” Collins.
“We believe he will be an excellent addition, and we see his signing as an ideal start to our summer business and the new collaborative approach to transfer activity that the club has put in place, through our technical committee, which includes the manager and his coaching staff, the scouting and recruitment teams, as well as our data analytics department,” he said.
