Appleby is looking for a job in America for Newbury victor Creative Flair.
After winning the Betfair British EBF Stakes at Newbury and putting her name to an illustrious list of honour, Creative Flair is ready to go on a trans-Atlantic expedition next month.
Great Heavens (2012), a subsequent Irish Oaks winner, Speedy Boarding (2015), and top-class filly Sea Of Class (2018) are among the most recent winners of the Abingdon Stakes, a Listed race.
Creative Flair was the 13-8 favorite for this year’s renewal after winning at Ascot on her comeback and finishing second to the Royal Ascot-bound Primo Bacio at York last month.
The daughter of Dubawi, who was wearing a hood for the first time, dominated for much of the race in her first start over a mile and a quarter before knuckling down to beat leading market challenger Lilac Road by half a length.
“I’m ecstatic,” Appleby remarked. The increase in trip appears to have resulted in some improvement, which we expected given her lineage.
“I thought she had a good grasp of the situation. We may consider sending her further away in the future, perhaps as to America for the Belmont Oaks in July. Her next goal would be that.
“Today, I believe the correct horses came to the fore. Our filly and Lilac Road were the two horses with the highest ratings when they entered the event, and they both ran well.”
