Does it pay to wait for PS5 refill updates? I’ve been using PlayStation 5 for the last month and continue to look ahead to what comes from Sony and the developers working on PS5 games.
Now I’ m able to share with you the essential things I discovered while using the PS5 by going into detail about the main features and spending time with the PS5 controller.
Many people are still asking about the PS5 price that needs to be taken into account, as you can save $100 if you are willing to go all digital, but this version might be harder to find. And that says a lot, because PS5 re-orders are already incredibly difficult.
Purchase the PS5 from Walmart, Best Buy, Target and Amazon.
Below are the categories you need to look out for, and I’ve already learned about them when using the PS5;
PS5 Exclusive Offers
PS5 control
PS5 Games
PS5 backward compatibility
PS5 Price
PS5 accessories
PSVR on the PS5
Is the PS5 fun?
All of these PS5 features and details will help explain why you’re waiting for a PS5 upgrade and hope your local store will have the PS5 in stock sooner rather than later.
PS5 Exclusive Offers
Probably one of the most important reasons to wait for the PlayStation 5 is the list of PS5 exclusive rights. I’m lucky enough to be able to buy both the PS5 and the Xbox X series, and the main reason for buying the PS5 was that I wanted to play exclusive games.
I spend most of my time in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and I am really looking forward to Horizon Forbidden West. In fact, Horizon: Zero Dawn was one of my favorite games on the PS4.
I’m also eagerly looking forward to playing Deathloop in June 2021. Astro’s Playroom is also a fun, free, exclusive PS5 game that comes with the console. It is a great showcase for the features of the PS5 controller and a fun spoilsport. Demon’s Souls is also available now, but honestly it’s not my kind of game, even though it is the first game many friends bought for their PS5. Here is a look at the PS5 exclusive rights you should know about;
Astro’s game room (Now available)
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (out now)
Destruction AllStars (Feb. 2021)
Death Loop (June 2021)
God of war: Ragnarök (2021)
Sackface: A great adventure (now available)
Gran Tourismo 7 (2021 1H)
Ratchet and clank: crack apart (2021)
Return (2021)
BugSnax (Dec. 2020)
Forbidden west on the horizon (2021)
Final Fantasy XVI (TBD)
Jett the Far Shore (TBD)
This is just the beginning of the PS5 exclusive rights we will see in the course of the console life. There are still many Sony properties that we will probably see in the next few years.
PS5 controller
The PS5 controller is a fantastic upgrade over the PS4 controller. The new DualSense controller is much more comfortable in the hand and is equal to the Xbox controller. I never found the PS4 controller comfortable, and even my Scuf PS4 controller was not as nice as my Xbox controller.
With the DualSense controller, I can be lost as Spider-Man for hours without my hands getting uncomfortable. This new PS5 controller also includes a few tricks that I try out in Astro’s Playground. It will be interesting to see how the developers will incorporate them into other games in 2021.
Haptic feedback
Adaptive triggers
Motion control
Microphone
Vibration in controllers is nothing new, but the SP5 controller uses haptic feedback to provide more specific impulses throughout the controller.
The DualSense controller triggers can vibrate depending on what is happening in the game and can also adjust the resistance to provide more immersion when you reach for something or pull back a bow.
Sensors in the controller can move characters in the game, similar to Nintendo’s joy-controllers. Sony also includes a microphone that you can use for party chats if you don’t have a headset connected.
In addition to the new features, we have a renamed share button, a large touchpad that games can use, and there’s a new USB-C charging port.
PS5 Games
In addition to the exclusive PS5 games, we will see many PS5 games coming to the PS4 and Xbox. These third-party games are great because many of them support crossplay so you can play against your friends.
In the first few days some of the games will get PS5 upgrades, and eventually we will see PS5 specific versions of the game as soon as the developers have more time to work on them.
Madden 21, for example, is now available specifically for the PS5. This is a free upgrade for many players. The Destiny 2 PS5 upgrade for the PS5 will be released on December 8th, bringing improved graphics and up to 4K at 120 frames per second. Many of the big games for the fall of 2020 will be released with a PS5 upgrade or PS5 version.
There are some exceptions, such as CyberPunk 2077, which arrives on December 10th. You can play the PS4 version on the PS5 via backward compatibility, but you will have to wait until at least 2021 for a PS5-optimized version of the game.
PS5 backwards compatibility
With a small collection of games to launch and a lengthy PS5 upgrade waiting for several popular titles, it’s good to know that PS5 backwards compatibility is available for playing PS4 games on your PlayStation 5.
Most of the 4,000 PS4 games will work on PlayStation 5 with backwards compatibility. Some of these games use the Game Boost feature of PS5 to run at a higher frame rate. There are only nine PS4 games that have been confirmed not to work with the backward compatibility of PS5.
If you have the PS4 games digitally, you can play them on the PS5 with backward compatibility once you have transferred them to the PlayStation 5 either via Wi-Fi data transfer or from a USB storage device. You can also download games from your library. If you have the games on floppy disk, you can insert the disk into your console and then play them. If you buy the cheaper PS5 Digital Edition, you will not be able to play your PS4 games that are on floppy disk.
You cannot play PS3, PS2 or PS1 games on your PS5 with a disc or digital purchase unless they have been remastered for the PS4. In this case you can buy the remastered version and play it. With PS Now on your PS5 you can stream older games, including some PS2, PS3 and PS4 games. This requires a monthly subscription and a fast Internet connection.
You can use either your DualSense PS5 controller or the DualShock PS4 controller for PS4 games.
PS5 Price
The PS5 price starts at $399.99 for the Digital Edition and goes up to $499.99 for the PS5 with floppy drive. Both consoles have the same specifications and features, except for playing games or movies on a disc.
I wanted to buy the PS5 Digital Edition to save $100, but it was harder to find in stock. Since it is still difficult to replenish PS5 stock, it is best to plan on up to $500 for the PS5.
If you can score with the cheaper PS5 Digital Edition and you don’t need the floppy drive, this is a bonus and you have more money left over for PS5 accessories or games.

If you’re waiting for PS5 replenishment to score a console, you should also take a look at the PS5 accessories you’re planning to purchase. While it is possible to find the PS5 controller in stock, it is difficult to find many of the other popular accessories.
The PlayStation 5 headphones, for example, are out of stock at many retailers, so if you see that they are available, it’s a good idea to jump on them.
You can use the PS4 controller to play PS4 games, but you can’t play local multiplayer PS5 games with it.
PSVR on the PS5
You can use the PSVR virtual reality headset with the PS5. You will need the PSVR headset, PlayStation Camera for PS4, and a PlayStation camera adapter. Sony provides a free PlayStation camera adapter which you can request here.
Sony recommends using the PS4 DualShock controller for PSVR games or using the PlayStation Move motion controllers for the PlayStation VR target controller if the game supports it.
There is currently no PSVR 2 or a new PSVR headset available for the PS5. So if you are looking for a virtual reality gaming experience on the PlayStation 5, this is your best option.

I have the PS5 and Xbox series X – and the winner is clear

The most important thing to consider when waiting for PS5 refills is whether the PlayStation 5 is fun. While I would still choose the Xbox series X if I could keep just one console, I’m having a lot of fun with the PS5.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Playing Miles Morales is a lot of fun. The game is incredibly fluid, the city is alive and the sound design in the game is overwhelming. I take my time with it because most of the PS5 exclusive versions I’m waiting for won’t be released for several months, but it’s a lot of fun.
I like Astro’s Playground, even though it’s not a super deep game. It’s still a fun diversion and it’s free.
Since I’ll be spending even more time inside this year and probably 2021 as well, I plan to use PS5 backwards compatibility to finally finish God of War and dive into my other older PS4 games I didn’t have time for.
