Ember Mug 2 review: Never drink cold coffee again…

The Ember Mug 2 is the best thing to happen to us in the morning since our first sip of coffee. If you hate cold coffee, we think you will love the Ember Mug 2 as much as we do. The battery powered cup contains a heating element that keeps your coffee or tea at the perfect temperature.

The Ember Mug 2 is available in 10 ounce and 14 ounce sizes and a variety of colors and costs $99.95 for the 10 ounce model and $129.95 for the 14 ounce size. There are also metallic color options for the 10 ounce size.

We tested the larger Ember Mug 2, which is the same size as the coffee we drink, but both models are very similar in performance.

You can buy the Ember Mug 2 at Amazon, Ember, Apple, Best Buy and in stores at selected Starbucks locations.

Is it worth buying the Ember Mug 2?

The Ember Mug 2 is worth the price if you love coffee and hate cold coffee. Since we’ve been using Ember, we haven’t sipped on cold coffee, which directly affects our mood and productivity.

Ember is the perfect cup for those who get lost in their work or take a long time to finish a cup of coffee. The cup can maintain a constant temperature between 120 and 145 degrees Fahrenheit. We keep our coffee at 135 degrees, but it’s easy to change the temperature with the app.

The battery life of the 14-ounce Ember Mug 2 is about 80 minutes, which means that we outlast most of our coffee drinking in the morning. If the charging station is placed at our desk and used as a coaster, the battery will last the whole day without any problems.

Cleaning is as easy as washing your hands, and it is safe to immerse the mug completely in water. After weeks of use, the white mug will not show any stains.

Ember Mug 2 performance and features

The Ember Mug 2 keeps coffee or tea at your chosen temperature without heating the outside of the cup. The combination of a cool cup and perfectly hot coffee is a sensible morning pleasure, especially when the temperature gets cooler.

It is possible to use the Ember Mug 2 without a smartphone, but if you connect it to your cell phone, you can choose your own perfect temperature and tea drinkers can use a built-in timer to let the tea brew at the right time.

We like the fact that the cup knows that you have poured a hot drink and automatically starts monitoring. The LED shows this status and alerts you when your coffee or tea is at the perfect temperature. The LED pulsates white while you pour coffee, and then glows solid white when it has reached your preferred temperature. If you connect the cup to your phone, you will also receive a notification when the cup is connected to your phone.

The battery life of the 14-ounce mug is indicated as 80 minutes, which is a good representation of the real battery life. After about 65 to 70 minutes of use, the mug will indicate that the battery life is low. If we drink more than two cups of coffee, we place Ember on the supplied charging coaster at our desk and unlock the full day battery life.

While you can buy a coffee cup warmer for about $10, Ember keeps your coffee at the same temperature without heating the cup and is perfect for carrying it to another room on the weekend when you’re reading a book or going outside. It’s a more elegant solution and worth the price.

On the iPhone we have enabled access to health data and can track your caffeine intake with the Ember Mug 2. This is an optional feature, but an interesting data point. You can only track certain brands of coffee or tea, so it will not be accurate if you drink another brand.

Design of the Ember Mug 2

The Ember Mug 2 is a ceramic mug in classic mug style. The company is not trying to produce a high-tech cup here. There is a reason why you can buy this mug from Apple and MOMA Despite the technology inside, the mug does not brag about its capabilities with a flashy look.

The size of the 14 ounce cup is perfect. We love that the handle is big enough to be gripped with three fingers when lifting the cup by the handle, but also that it is proportioned so that you can grip the cup with two fingers pushed through the handle. The weight is very similar to a standard coffee cup, and the Ember Mug 2 is easy to hold while you sip on a cup on the couch.

Rings on the bottom of the cup are connected to the contact points of the charging mat to charge the cup. It is important to keep the charging mat and the bottom of the cup dry. We had no problems with coffee falling down the side of the cup.
