With a triple appointment, Marcel Brands strengthens Everton’s ties.
Marcel Brands, Everton’s director of football, has been officially appointed to three additional board positions with the club.
Since his appointment to Everton Football Club Company Ltd in January 2019, the 59-year-old Dutchman, who arrived at Goodison Park in 2018 after eight years in the same post at PSV Eindhoven, had been on the Blues board.
Since his arrival, Brands has established himself as a key figure behind the scenes and a trusted figure for majority owner Farhad Moshiri, who has been tasked with assisting the club’s on-field fortunes and finding a suitable candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti following his shock departure last week.
Brands, who signed a new three-year contract with the Toffees in April, has cemented his relationship with the club by being appointed to three new board positions.
Brands has been appointed to the boards of Everton Investments Ltd, Everton Finance Ltd, and Goodison Park Stadium Ltd, according to Companies House records, all of which began on June 4.
Brands joins Bill Kenwright, Denise Barrett-Baxendale, and Alexander Ryazantsev on the Everton Investments Ltd and Goodison Park Stadium Ltd boards, and he joins Kenwright on the Everton Finance Ltd board, which had just Barrett-Baxendale and Ryazantsev as confirmed board members previously.
While the appointments do not significantly alter the dynamic, they do indicate that Brands will have a stronger influence with the club heading ahead, with Moshiri’s investment set to continue as the team prepares for their planned move to Bramley Moore Dock in 2024.
