Cirq D Play on Great Homer Street has stated that despite the level 3 restrictions currently in place in Liverpool, it will remain open to children’s health to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.
A soft play center in Liverpool has announced that it will remain open, although it is not allowed to open under the Tier 3 rules.
The center on Great Homer Street said: “We have opened as usual because we believe this is absolutely the right thing to do.
In a statement posted on their Instagram account, Cirq D Play said, “The well-being and mental health of our children is of paramount importance. We are normally open because we believe it is absolutely right to do so.
Cirq D Play describes itself as a “family entertainment center” with several play frames and a sports field.
Although the number of cases in the city has decreased in the last few days, the number of cases is still very high and the hospitals are still under pressure as the number of beds occupied by coronavirus patients increases.
“Let us put smiles back on the faces of our children. Thanks to our amazing customers for their continued and loyal support”.
A spokesman for Liverpool City Council said officials had contacted the company to remind them of their legal obligations.
He said: “We are aware of this problem and we have contacted the Centre to inform them of their obligations under the Covid regulations. We understand that local businesses suffer from the restrictions and we are doing everything we can to help.
“However, the Tier 3 restrictions state that soft play areas must remain closed. We urge everyone to comply with these restrictions for public safety and to slow down the spread of the virus”.
Cirq D Play was contacted by ECHO for further comments.
