The GPO, Liverpool’s largest food hall, is set to open in the Metquarter.
Inside the Metquarter, Liverpool’s largest food hall opens today.
GPO Liverpool brings together a new generation of independent food and beverage vendors under one roof.
The 11,000-square-foot facility pays homage to the building’s previous life as the General Post Office of Liverpool.
GPO will have a Japanese-Scandinavian mashup, Thai street cuisine, weird coffee blends, and Instagrammable ice cream, among other things.
The site is located adjacent to the Everyman Cinema, behind the Metquarter’s lovely historic 19th century façade, with open air seating overlooking Victoria Street, which has recently been refurbished.
GPO Liverpool, the brainchild of northern hospitality innovators The Milestone Group and Metquarter owners Queensberry, has created over 130 new jobs.
The location is new in the city, and it is a place where people can gather with friends and order food from a variety of vendors.
The GPO features local independent enterprises from Liverpool in the Grab & Go part of the food hall. Lunchtime munchies and takeaway coffees are appropriate for the quick-purchase station.
Following a difficult period for retail and hospitality, GPO has completed the conversion of Metquarter, bringing fresh vitality to the building and surrounding region.
“After months of hard work, we’re happy to finally open the doors to the food hall and allow the citizens of Liverpool to enjoy the distinctive independent merchants on offer,” said Matt Bigland, Founder and Director of The Milestone Group. GPO will serve as a focus for Liverpool’s burgeoning food hall industry, showcasing the best in up-and-coming culinary and beverage talent in the heart of the city.”

Jailbird Nashville Fried Chicken
Think loaded fries and great fried chicken, inspired by the owners’ travels across the US. With three levels of heat to choose from, chicken is served with just a hint of chilli, marinated in Carolina reaper, or clucking hot Nashville inspired spice.
