Nuno Esprito Santo, Everton’s new manager, is scheduled for additional talks.
Everton are adamant that their search for a new manager will continue tonight, but Nuno Esprito Santo is now the clear favourite to take the post.
In the following days, the former Wolves manager is set to undertake additional negotiations with the Blues.
And the Portuguese coach, dubbed by Goodison insiders as a “strong candidate,” appears to be closing in on the job.
Everton had previously stated that an agreement for a new manager would not be finalized until next week.
Despite Esprito Santo going into first place, this remains the situation.
Discussions with the 47-year-old, who left Wolves at the end of the season, will now pick up speed.
Esprito Santo had conducted talks with Crystal Palace and was set to move to Selhurst Park earlier this week, but the deal fell through.
Everton is pursuing the former Valencia coach, despite the Blues’ insistence that no decision has been made on how to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
