German government adopts new corona rules that are close to the shutdown of spring. They will come into force in November and are to apply until the end of the month for the time being.
The goal is clearly formulated: Families and friends should be able to meet again at Christmas without any major fear. But for this to happen, the federal and state governments believe that everyone will have to limit themselves considerably for the time being. The new rules are very close to the shutdown in spring. Contact us: Only members of two households may meet in public – a maximum of ten people. Celebrations in apartments and private facilities are described as “unacceptable”.
Gastronomy: Restaurants, bars, clubs, discos and pubs will be closed. Delivery services and take-away food are still allowed. Canteens are also allowed to open.
Leisure: Leisure facilities will be closed. These include theaters, operas, concert halls, trade fairs, cinemas, amusement parks, saunas, amusement arcades, casinos, betting shops and brothels. All events that serve entertainment purposes are prohibited.
Sports: Fitness studios, swimming pools and fun pools will be closed. Amateur sports operations will be discontinued, so clubs will no longer be allowed to train. Individual sports, such as jogging alone or in pairs, are still allowed. Professional sports such as the soccer Bundesliga are only allowed without spectators.
Travel and hotels: Citizens are to refrain from private trips, day trips and visits to relatives – even within Germany. Hotels and guest houses are no longer allowed to accept tourists.
Services: Cosmetic studios, massage practices and tattoo studios will be closed because the minimum distance cannot be maintained here. Medically necessary treatments such as physiotherapy or pedicure are still possible. Hairdressers will also remain open.
Supermarkets: The retail trade will remain open – but there are regulations on how many customers are allowed in the store at any one time.
Schools and kindergartens: Schools and kindergartens remain open. The same applies to social and youth welfare facilities.
Work: Wherever possible, people should work from home again.
Companies: Companies, self-employed persons and associations that are particularly affected by the new Corona rules will have large parts of their lost sales replaced. For companies with a maximum of 50 employees, the federal government will compensate 75 percent, for larger companies the decision will be made according to EU state aid law.
