Murder victim in Köln? The dead man from Aachener Straße – now more details are known

Köln –
In the night to Saturday a severely injured person was found on Aachener Straße in Cologne. The exact location is on the level of the Aachener Weiher, on the opposite side of the street between the bus stops Moltkestraße and Universitätsstraße.

At about 3:45 a.m., a car driver had found the man and immediately alerted the rescue services. They were called out, but in the end they could do nothing more for the injured man. Despite the resuscitation, the man succumbed to his injuries on the spot. He is a 26-year-old man.

The background is still unclear. According to the police, they assume that the man died as a result of external violence.

The police have set up a homicide squad. The public prosecutor’s office has ordered an autopsy of the body. However, the result and further information on the state of the investigation are not expected before Monday.

The police homicide squad is now looking for witnesses who saw an altercation or suspicious persons near the scene of the crime between 3 and 4 a.m. or who can provide information on the background of the crime.
