The victim was walking down Station Road in Prescot, near Cables Retail Park, at about 7 pm on July 21 when he was attacked.

A gang jumped out of a car before hitting a man in the street with bricks.

Four men jumped out of a black Ford Focus and started an assault.

According to Merseyside police, the man suffered swelling of the head and cuts and abrasions to his face.

He managed to escape them a short time later and ran towards the mall to get help.

“On Tuesday, July 21, around 7 p.m., a 43-year-old man was on Station Road near Cables Retail Park when four men got out of a black Ford Focus and began to attack him.

Now the officers have released the surveillance pictures of two men with whom they want to talk about their investigation.

In a statement the police said: “We have released video footage of two men we want to talk to after a robbery in Prescot.

“The man managed to escape and ran towards the shopping center.

“It is suspected that some of the perpetrators may have been armed with bricks.

“An investigation is underway and investigations have been made in the area.

“He suffered a swelling on his head and cuts and abrasions on his face.

“We have released video images of two men we are trying to track down because we believe they have information that is vital to our investigation.

said Detective Sergeant Leanne Toole: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack. It would have been light when it happened and I’m sure there would have been a lot going on in the mall and surrounding streets.

“I also ask anyone who recognizes the men, or the men themselves, to come forward and speak to us.
