Emergency services were called to Strand Street during rush hour to report a collision at the Salthouse Quay intersection.
After a collision with a BMW in downtown Liverpool, a cyclist was knocked off his bike and left injured.
The victim was rushed to hospital as emergency services were blocking traffic during rush hour.
The extent of the victim’s injuries remains unknown, but a spokesman for Merseyside police confirmed that the driver of the BMW stopped at the scene.
Roadblocks were imposed as crews were working on the scene and traffic was reversed away from the area.
When paramedics, fire and police officers responded, a cyclist over 50 was found injured and taken to hospital shortly afterwards.
In a statement, police said: “We responded to a collision between a cyclist and a BMW at 4:15pm on Strand Street, at the intersection of Salthouse Quay.
They are assisting the officers in the investigation of the collision.
Pictures taken at the scene of the accident showed how numerous paramedics placed the cyclist in an ambulance while the police inspected the car and bicycle.
“The cyclist is a man in his 50s and was taken to hospital for evaluation of his injuries.
“The driver stopped to help and the investigation is still ongoing.
