Within 24 hours, the number of corona infections in France has increased by more than 52,000. As the second European country after Spain, France exceeded the mark of one million confirmed corona cases on Friday.
The number of new daily corona infections in France exceeded the 50,000 mark for the first time. In total, at least 52,010 people became infected with the novel corona virus within 24 hours, according to the health authorities on Sunday evening. On Saturday there had been more than 45,000. Since Saturday, 116 new deaths have been reported. This means that at least 34,761 people have died in connection with the corona virus since the beginning of the pandemic in France.
According to the data, more than 2570 people are currently being treated in intensive care units. At the peak of the pandemic in spring, more than 7000 patients were treated. In the past 24 hours, 1298 people infected with corona were admitted to hospitals, and a total of 16,454 people with symptoms were in hospital on Sunday.
As the second European country after Spain, France exceeded the mark of one million proven corona infections on Friday. The French government wants to get the situation under control by extending the curfew to two thirds of the population. Since Saturday, 46 million French people are not allowed to leave their homes between 21.00 and 06.00 hours. The regulation will initially apply for six weeks.
