Who received the highest awards at the CMA Awards tonight?

Wednesday saw the Country Music Association Awards, where many country stars came together for the first time in months.

Darius Rucker and Reba McEntire shared the moderation and kept the show, which was held at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee, moving. And who else took the stage: Eric Church won the Entertainer of the Year award, and Maren Morris made off with the Song of the Year and Single of the Year for her melody “Bones”. Newcomer Morgan Wallen was also named new artist of the year. Meanwhile, country music legend Charlie Pride received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the genre.

Viewers were treated to live performances by Miranda Lambert (who received seven nominations this year and finished with a victory) and Thomas Rhett, of whom Thomas Rhett shared the stage with McEntire. Justin Bieber and Keith Urban beamed in with remote performances.

Although the event was filled with stars, social distancing and protective masks seemed to be missing that evening. There was even a live audience, unlike other award shows that took place in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. At other country music awards ceremonies, the ACM Awards and CMT Music Awards, there were virtual performances and thank you speeches. (It should be noted, however, that a representative of the CMAs told TVLine that precautions had been taken, including, but not limited to, testing everyone who entered the venue and keeping eight feet between tables).

Rascal Flatts, Lady A (the artist formerly known as Lady Antebellum), Florida Georgia Line, Lee Brice and Tyler Hubbard all prematurely left the ceremony due to concerns about corona virus.
