When the Trumpy Bears first appeared in 2017, people didn’t know if they were real or not. Snopes, the fact-checking website dedicated to unmasking myths and rumors, even investigated their existence. As it turned out, they are indeed real, and given the combative climate of the 2020 presidential election, people on both sides of the aisle are once again talking about him, with ads for the top hugger still running on Fox News.
Trumpy bears (unfortunately) a strong resemblance to the 45th president, with the red tie, wrinkled forehead, slit lips and, of course, the great sweep of inexplicably styled golden hair. You can still order Trumpy Bear online for two payments of $19.95 plus $6.95 for shipping and handling. Trumpy even comes with a special certificate of authenticity.
And believe it or not, Exceptional Products, the Texas-based company behind Trumpy, could take advantage of the nail-biting concern caused by the slow election outcome to generate a big boost in sales. At least one Twitter user placed an ad on Fox News during a break from the early Friday afternoon election coverage:

While conservative voters seek comfort in Trumpy’s fluffy little arms, liberals like to use the stuffed animal for memes mocking the president.
One user has taken a series of photos of Trumpy that could capture the mood of many right-wing Americans this week. It shows the little bear sadly watching the news as reports come in that Joe Biden has taken the lead on Trump in the remaining uncalled key states on the battlefield.

While the article and its marketing seem to be clearly in favor of Trumpy, the latest commercial for Trumpy is having some fun at the expense of the president. It shows a young woman cuddling with the bear before parking it in his favorite spot in the house (a leather armchair in front of the TV). Then two different military veterans, one of whom is a motorcycle enthusiast and rides with Trumpy in a helicopter on his lap, proudly proclaim their love for the stuffed animal. You can also see a golfer carrying Trumpy as he hits the golf course. He explains in front of the camera that Trumpy helps him play golf.
Since Trumpy’s launch, the ads below and other ads besides Fox have been running on several other stations, including Animal Planet and Discovery Channel, to appeal to bear lovers.
At the end of the commercial, a deep voice is heard: “Don’t miss having a piece of American history… Trumpy, the most fearless bear ever.”
The commercial also includes a disclaimer that emphasizes that President Donald Trump did not endorse Trumpy Bear….
