The Reboot Cast Has Added These ‘Sex and the City’ Favorites
With the inclusion of more cast members from the original series, the highly anticipated Sex and the City revival is poised to appear a lot more familiar.
Sarah Jessica Parker would reprise her role as Carrie Bradshaw, with Kristin Davis (Charlotte York) and Cynthia Nixon, in And Just Like That…, it had long been expected (Miranda Hobbes).
Mario Cantone (Anthony Marentino), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), Willie Garson (Stanford Blatch), and Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt) have all indicated that they will reprise their roles in HBO Max’s revival.
Executive producer Michael Patrick King said Variety, “Everyone at And Just Like That… is excited to be able to continue the narratives of these famous Sex and the City characters with the performers that made them so charming.”
The news boosts the number of returning male cast members, as it was announced in May that Chris Noth, who plays Carrie’s dashing husband, John James “Mr. Big” Preston, will be reprising his role.
However, despite the actor earlier claiming that he would return for the next season, John Corbett, who played Carrie’s on-again, off-again lover Aiden Shaw in the franchise, remains officially unconfirmed.
In April, Corbett told Page Six, “I’m going to do the show,” adding that the possibility of returning was “quite thrilling.”
Corbett’s representative has been contacted by Washington Newsday for comment.
Sara Ramirez joins the cast as Che Diaz, a non-binary stand-up comedian who creates a podcast on which Carrie appears as a guest.
Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, will not appear in the remake after the actress stated unequivocally that she was done with the franchise.
Despite allegations of a dispute, Cattrall told Piers Morgan in 2017 that she and her SATC co-stars had “never been pals.”
Costume designer Patricia Field will also not be returning, as she has already committed to the second season of Netflix’s Emily in Paris, another program created by SATC creator Darren Star.
Field recently told WWD, “I wasn’t able to be in New York doing that and be in Paris playing Emily in Paris.” “However, I advised them to contact my great friend Molly Rogers, who also. This is a brief summary.
