Season 4 of ‘This Is Us’: Why It Will Be the Last Season Ever—And Why It Will Be Delayed

The current season of This Is Us will end in May, but the show will return later in the year with Season 6. Since May 2019, when the show was renewed for three seasons by NBC, fans have known it would run this long. However, they were unaware until recently that Season 6 will be the final season of the hit emotional drama.

Season 6 of This Is Us: What We Know

The exact release date for the next season has yet to be determined, although NBC has announced that fans will have to wait longer than normal for the next installment of the Pearson family drama.

This Is Us is not on the NBC fall 2021 schedule, despite the fact that all previous seasons (except the current one, which was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic) premiered in late September. This is due to the fact that Season 6 will not premiere on the network until the middle of the season, which means viewers will have to wait until at least January 2022 to see the final episodes of the show.

While this means viewers will have to wait eight months for new episodes, it also means that the show’s final episodes will air weekly, without the delays that network shows must take in order to spread them out over a year.

Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Chris Sullivan have all signed contracts for Season 6, which means they’ll all be returning for one more season.

The final season is projected to have 18 episodes, but this has not been confirmed.

Why is This Is Us coming to an end after Season 6?

The show hasn’t been cancelled because of low ratings. The show is NBC’s fourth-highest-rated scripted show, as well as the most-watched show on the network in the 18-49 demographic, which is crucial to advertisers who keep networks afloat.

This Is Us was always supposed to end after its sixth season, according to producer Dan Fogelman. And these aren’t just the words of a man trying to hide the fact that his show was canceled; he’s been predicting the end of Season 6 since the beginning. This is a condensed version of the information.
