Large Mouth Season 4 is now being broadcast on Netflix, the first season after the animated show made an important casting decision. The series, along with shows like The Simpsons, promised that there would be no more white actors playing colored characters. This means that Jenny Slate will no longer play Missy, who will be cast by a new actor who will take over the role towards the end of the current season.
The one thing that hasn’t changed in season 4 is the caliber of the guest stars the series has been able to attract. Guest stars include Seth Rogen, Maria Bamford and the British sounds of John Oliver.
Who are the new cast members in Big Mouth Season 4?
Ayo Edebiri – Missy Foreman-Greenwald
While Jenny Slate will no longer be taking over Missy’s voice, comedy writer and actor Ayo Edebiri will be taking over the role – although Slate will still be playing the role for all but the last two episodes. The actress is best known as the author of the NBC comedy Sunnyside (who is also working on Big Mouth Season 5) and also played the lead role in the indie film Cicada this year.
Maria Bamford – Tito the fear mosquito
Bamford is a popular comedienne among comedians and the general public, especially known for her surreal Netflix comedy Lady Dynamite. Previously, she has sung characters for BoJack Horseman, Adventure Time and The Legend of Korra, and starred in Arrested Development and Fresh Off the Boat.
John Oliver – Harry
Most famous is his critically acclaimed late-night show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. As an actor, he has had a recurring role in Community and was part of the voiceovers for the Lion King 2019 remake and the films The Smurfs. In Big Mouth he plays camp counselor Harry.
Seth Rogen – Seth Goldman
Another alum of the Lion King, Seth Rogen, voted for Pumbaa in the “live-action” movie, which stars in films such as Superbad, Pineapple Express and this year’s An American Pickle. He plays a new character who meets the cast at camp in season 4 of Big Mouth.
Josie Totah – Natalie
After Josie Totah was the breakout star of Peacock’s Saved by the Bell Reboot, she plays Natalie, a transsexual camper.
In Big Mouth Season 4 they can also be seen as cameo:
Sterling K Brown (This Is Us) – Michael Angelo, an artist type that Jessi meets in New York.
Zach Galifinakis (The Cat) – The Gratitoad, a toad who likes to show gratitude
Quinta Brunson (A Black Lady Sketch Show) and Lena Waithe (Master of None) – Quinta and Lena, Missy’s cousins from Atlanta
Anna Konkle and Maya Erskine (PEN15) – Izzy and Misha, seventh grade girls who meet Nick and Andrew at the beginning of the school year
Paul Giamatti (Sideways), whose role has not yet been officially announced
