Season 19 of ‘NCIS’ has been renewed, but it could be the last season.
The current season finale of NCIS airs on CBS on May 25, and there’s some good news for fans of the hit show. The show was renewed for Season 19 in April 2021, with Mark Harmon expected to reprise his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, despite rumours that he was attempting to quit the show.
Season 19 of NCIS: Los Angeles: What We Learned
NCIS will return later this year for a third season, but there will be a minor adjustment for viewers.
NCIS has been airing on CBS on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT for the past few years. However, when the show returns, it will air on Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT, sharing a night with NCIS: Hawai’i.
The precise dates for these two shows have yet to be announced. NCIS, on the other hand, began all of its seasons at the end of September, with the exception of Season 18, which was postponed due to the coronavirus. Season 19 will premiere on September 20 or September 27, 2021, depending on the previous seasons’ release dates.
Mark Harmon is the only member of the cast who has been confirmed to return, with the actor signed on for at least another season. Sean Murray as Timothy McGee, Wilmer Valderrama as Nick Torres, Emily Wickersham as Eleanor Bishop, Diona Reasonover as Kasie Hines, Brian Dietzen as Jimmy Palmer, and Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance are all expected to return (depending on any NCIS: LA-style surprise season finale departures).
Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), the hostage negotiator introduced in the current season’s penultimate episode, is also expected to return for Season 19. When she signed up for the show, her contract included a clause that allowed her to return if it was renewed.
Why Season 19 of NCIS may be the show’s final season
Harmon’s future on the show is still up in the air, despite the fact that he has signed up for Season 19. The actor was considering quitting the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), but was told that if he did, the show would be cancelled.
Harmon’s appearance in Season 19, although in a reduced capacity, was one of the possibilities considered. Dr. ‘Ducky’ Mallard was also given permission by NCIS. This is a condensed version of the information.
