Recall: Chocolate articles can cause allergic reactions.

It concerns the article “Flowers, dark chocolate 3D” of the manufacturer Günthart & Co. KG with the article number 2340, the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) 4009853023408, the batch number 1911662 and the best before date 13 December 2021. The chocolate blossoms are offered as decorative articles for cakes, tarts, desserts and similar dishes.

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety and Günthart & Co. KG warn against a chocolate product in which elevated levels of allergenic substances have been found. Consumption could trigger allergic attacks or incompatibility reactions in certain groups of people. Consumption is therefore not recommended.

According to the manufacturer, increased levels of casein and lactose were found in random samples. These substances, which are derived from milk, can cause allergic attacks in people who are allergic to dairy products or lead to complaints in people with corresponding intolerances. Although the manufacturer emphasizes that the product is labelled to indicate possible traces of milk, the levels found went beyond trace contamination.

In which stores the article was sold is not explicitly mentioned. However, the manufacturer states on the website that products of Günthart & Co. KG are sold at the supermarkets EDEKA, REWE, famila, Kaufland, real, V-MARKT, tegut…, HIT and GLOBUS as well as via the online store der-ideen-shop.de.

Which allergens are included?

The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety also announces that the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia are affected by the recall.

The manufacturer points out that the chocolate blossoms from the above-mentioned batch number with the corresponding best before date should no longer be used. However, other products and best before dates are not affected.

According to the manufacturer, consumers who have already purchased the chocolate affected by the recall can hand it in at the respective point of purchase. There a credit note of the purchase price is issued informally.

For people with milk allergies, food intolerances or intolerances the consumption can express itself by numerous different complaints.
