During the two-part premiere of the SEAL Team Season 4 there was a big upheaval in the central team when Jason (played by David Boreanaz) announced that he would give up his position at Bravo One to, in his words, “find a life for Jason Hayes. This shocking decision, taken after Mandy (Jessica Paré) left the CBS show, has left some fans wondering if the Angel and Bones actor was about to leave his last TV show.
Is David Boreanaz leaving the SEAL team?
Lucky for the fans, it seems that Boreanaz isn’t going anywhere because in interviews the character has revealed that there is still a lot to explore with the character in the show.
Actually, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor has hinted that the character could soon reappear in his SEAL team position. He said, “I don’t know if it will stick… Was it done in a hurry? Was it done right? We will find out.
“How is he handling this? How does he manage to be all in with the team all the time, and all the time with a woman all in all? He doesn’t know what that looks like. I think it’s scary, and it will be scary. I don’t know if he can do it.”
Meanwhile, in a TVLine interview, Spencer Hudnut, executive producer of the SEAL team, revealed exactly why Boreanaz won’t go: “At the beginning of season three, he re-enlisted for a few more years, so you can’t just walk away. He is still part of the Navy, so he has to find a new way to ‘burn off’ his recruitment. And that will be the fight for him: Does that give him a sense of satisfaction like operating?”
Fans who had hoped that Jason would start a romance with Mandy (Jessica Paré) in season 4 will also be disappointed that Mandy (Jessica Paré) has left the show. Although the character will return later in the season, Paré will not return as a series director this season.
“Look, we’re all sad to see Mandy go,” Hudnut told TVLine, “but we’re really trying to honor the experience of our service members. And by dramatizing the struggle, the trauma, all the emotional stress, there must be consequences.
Even if she won’t be around as she used to be, she will have a certain role to play in Jason’s life in the coming episodes. As Hudnut noted, “this connection [between Jason and Mandy]influences what Jason decides later in the episode.
SEAL Team Season 4 continues on Wednesdays at 21:00 ET / 20:00 CT on CBS.
