No, Larry David did not learn to ride like a professional skateboarder – this is Tony Hawk.

Sorry to disappoint you, but this picture of Larry David skateboarding is unfortunately not real. The real professional skateboarder Tony Hawk has dressed up as Curb Your Enthusiasm funnyman for Halloween 2019. Someone photographed him skateboarding in his simple but brilliant costume, and of course the internet went crazy.

“Happy Halloween! Short question: Do you respect wood? I adore wood,” Hawk wrote, quoting a 2009 episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm in which David mocks someone who doesn’t respect wood.

Falcon dressed in khaki pants, brown sneakers, blue shirt with collar and sports jacket. He completed the iconic look with a wig/bald cap imitating the hairline of the comic strip.

What makes this charade even more interesting is the fact that 2019 was not the first time the professional skater attracted “the David”. Hawk dressed up as David and in 2016 he also posted pictures of skateboarding.

The photo of Hawk skating, as David recently recited on Reddit, and users were entertained by Hawk’s costume and execution.

“I could swear he’s doing those Larry David hands on purpose,” one user wrote about David’s gestures. “This is the part that kills me. These are absolute LD hands,” agreed another.

Others were also impressed by Hawk’s skateboarding talent. “The thing is that Tony’s is still going to do that shit if it looks like it’s legitimate,” said one user. “S***, I’m surprised he can still do it in his 50s. You’d think his knees would be finished after 40 years of doing this,” wrote another.

“I haven’t touched a skateboard in my 40s for over 20 years, and they winked a little at the thought of it,” a third one wrote. “My husband built differently.”

The photos also made their rounds on Twitter and captivated everyone. “Tony Hawk as Larry David is the best thing I’ve seen in 2020, maybe all my life,” someone tweeted.

“pretty much… pretty much pretty good,” commented one user, quoting one of David’s most quotable lines.

It appeared that several users also confused David with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. “imma be honest, for a second I thought it was Bernie (sic) Sander,” one of them said.

Someone else joked last year that they would tell their children that the picture of Hawk skating as David was actually the senator.

Even Monica Lewinsky seemed to be impressed by Hawk-as-David.

When the costume originally made its rounds on the Internet, one person said they didn’t know “that they needed it,” and honestly, we still need it now.
