Actor Sacha Baron Cohen could not help but laugh at President Donald Trump for using an OAN journalist as a source for one of his allegations of election fraud on Twitter. This is because she is the same one who let the actress Maria Bakalowa, who pretended to be Borat’s daughter for the recently released film Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, into the White House.
“Nice try, Don – your source is an OAN ‘journalist’ who was framed to get Borat’s daughter into the White House. Sad,” he tweeted on Thursday and shared an article from Mediaite reporting that Trump shared an exposed conspiracy theory.
The article, which Cohen shared, stated that the president was promoting a conspiracy theory regarding the Dominion company that manufactures voting machines. The conspiracy states that the company deleted over 2 million votes for Trump and transferred hundreds of thousands of votes in Pennsylvania from Trump to President-elect Joe Biden. As Mediaite points out, the conspiracy has been exposed by several sources, including the New York Times.
âREPORT: DOMINION DELETED 2.7 MILLION TRUMPF VOICES NATIONALLY. DATA ANALYSIS FINDS 221,000 PENNSYLVANIA VOTES THAT WERE CHANGED FROM PRESIDENTS CENTERPF TO BIDEN. 941,000 TRUMP VOTES DELETED. STATES USE DOMINION SELECTION SYSTEMS SWITCH 435,000 VOTES FROM TRUMPF TO BID.

In his tweet, Trump identified OAN and the network’s chief White House correspondent, Chanel Rion, who accompanied Bakalowa in a deleted scene in the Borat sequel.
The clip was tweeted from the Borat Twitter account in October, mocking not only Trump but OAN as well.
In Borat’s sequel, Bakalowa finally breaks up with Cohen to become a conservative journalist and mocks many of the people she tempts to interview. While the most memorable is certainly Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, the deleted scene is in itself an excellent satire that tears apart the network for spreading misinformation.

“OAN is the strictest news source in America,” Borat’s voice in the clip says as clips of Rion are played. “I know this because they are taking my daughter to the White House. There is no need for security tests or COVID testing. They’re boring.”
The clip then shows Rion going to the White House with Bakalowa and the actress in the audience at a Trump speech engagement. It also shows her talking to Donald Trump Jr.
At the end, Bakalowa asks Rion a question that has crossed the mind of most reasonable people: “Why are all the wrong journalists for the left and not for the right? Rion looks confused before a title card for the film is shown.
Cohen’s message really seems to be If the quoted reporter Trump in his satirical comedy was so easily fooled by an actress, there is no reason anyone should believe this report.
Mediaite notes that the source of the conspiracy appears to be a report by OAN host Lilia Fifield, not Rion. During a Thursday report, she claimed that a report by Edison Research showed a “glitch” in the Dominion’s voting systems. Analysts say that the theft and destruction of votes is attributed to so-called “glitches” in the Dominion’s software, and that the extent to which this affects results can be verified by manually recounting votes in each state,” she said.
Cohen’s publicist and OAN did not respond in a timely manner to the email requests for comments on the release sent to Washington Newsday.
